Street Walkin: Silver Spring

I’ve always tried to use my “Creative Pieces” section as a place to experiment with new and/or different photography techniques, and this shoot is no different. After a period of many factors stunting me from creating, I bought a new mirrorless camera (Sony A7RII), and a new 35mm lens. These purchases are some that I’d been saving up for, for a while. So with the excitement of a newer and higher quality camera with an equally newer and higher quality lens, I was excited to shoot. I called Natnel to plan something and we settled on the classic location of Downtown Silver Spring.

Storytelling

I highly doubt that the creative “block” that I was in, was truly a block as much as it was a period meant for me to refocus my art and redetermine the directions of various ideas and projects that I wish to execute. One thing that I did, during my period of absence from the camera, was rewatching my favorite episodes of Atlanta and watch some of my favorite movies again to sort of jog my creative instincts and influences. In this shoot, I experimented with photographic storytelling which is seen throughout each of the slideshows where I follow Natnel through his journey through the city as opposed to poses throughout the city.
